MWRTA To Launch Bus Service To Grocery Stores

FRAMINGHAM – Starting Wednesday, April 22, the MetroWest Regional Transit Authority (MWRTA) will launch a temporary grocery route to help those without an automobile get access to supermarkets and grocery stores during this coronavirus crisis.

The “4 Grocery Route” is designed specifically to take individuals to and from the grocery stores for essential shopping trips.

“MWRTA is currently providing public transportation for essential trips only, and strongly encourages ALL riders to wear a face mask and gloves while on the bus,’ said the Authority.

The bus will go to Market basket in Ashland, Roche Brothers in Natick and Wegmans at the Natick Mall.

“Scheduled times are only approximate; please wait for the MWRTA 10 minutes in advance of scheduled times to ensure not missing the bus,’ said the Authority.

“The MWRTA uses the Flag Down System which allows buses to stop anywhere along their routes to pick up passengers, where it is safe to do so.
Passengers can hail the MWRTA buses by waving,’ said the Authority.

This is a temporary route to assist in the ongoing COVID-19 situation, to help get transit-depended people to and from to grocery stores, said the MWRTA
