NATICK – Mrs. Rose Asekhalen Egbor was born in Emaudo, Ekpoma, Edo State, Nigeria, to the family of Mrs. Titi and Pa. Michael Iyare both of blessed memory, on the 27th of September 1938.

As a toddler her parents allowed her to live with her maternal aunt and her family (Mr. and Mrs. King both of blessed memory) in Ibadan, Oyo State, Nigeria, as was the custom in those days. During her stay in Ibadan, she had a good moral and educational upbringing, which enabled her to complete her primary and secondary school education successfully.

Mrs. Rose Egbor whilst living in Ibadan, never failed to visit her parents and siblings during the holidays. It was on one of such visits she came across her life partner Mr  K.S Egbor. They both fell in love which later resulted in their marriage in the United Kingdom.

Her passion to further her education and earn a living, propelled her securing admission into a catering school in the United Kingdom. She completed all her courses with flying colors and got a job almost immediately after graduating.

She later returned to Lagos, Nigeria with her husband and first two children. She worked in Lagos briefly before relocating to Benin city. 

She opened a shop selling children’s wears and other item to support the running of her home. She was blessed with additional three children.

Mrs. Rose Egbor loved God. She loved reading and studying her Bible. She was a woman of strong faith and a woman of prayer.

She was an ardent gardener.  Her passion was gardening, tending to her flowers. She nurtured her plants like she did her children. 

She went on to establish 3 businesses over time. A poultry, a  paint shop and coldroom  which is still running today for storage of fishery products and general rentage.

She was a very prudent and astute business woman.

In the later years of her life, she relocated to the United states, visiting home periodically to see her family. 

Her joy in her latter days was spending time with her husband, kids and grandkids. She was a most family oriented woman and was happiest when around her family.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend the visiting hours in the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park Street in Natick on Friday February 4, 2022 from 6 to 8 p.m.

A funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday February 5, 2022 at 10 a.m. 

Burial immediately following services will be at St. Patrick’s Cemetery, Natick.
