FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Public Schools reported 27 new COVID cases on Wednesday, December 22.
There have been 91 new cases this week.
More than 50% of the cases have been at Framingham High. There were 19 cases on Monday reported and 19 cases again reported on Tuesday, and 16 cases on Wednesday.
It is unknown if the cases at Framingham high are all students, staff, or a combination of both. The district does not separate that number.
The district said it was seeing a “surge” in cases since the Thanksgiving break.
There have been 153 new cases of COVID at Framingham High since the Thanksgiving break, and 389 total cases in the district since November 28.
Since the start of the school year, there have now been 570 cases.

Besides the 16 cases at Framingham High, there were 4 cases at Potter Road Elementary, and 3 cases at Fuller Middle.
There were two cases reported at Cameron Middle school.
There was one case reported at the following schools: Walsh Middle and Stapleton Elementary.
Framingham High has had the most cases of any school at 182 cases.
There are more than 2,500 students at Framingham High School plus staff.
Harmony Grove is second with 42 cases and Potter Road with 40 cases.
The Farley Administration Building has reported a total 17 cases this 2021-2022 school year
The district has its winter break with Christmas on the 25th. Today is the last day of school in 2021.
The public school district has said due to the surge, they are struggling with other issues related to the coronavirus.
“At this point in time we are significantly delayed in our ability to contact trace due to the surge we are experiencing as a district. This is not unique to Framingham; other urban districts are experiencing similar surges,” said the Framingham Public Schools COVID team.
