HOW IT HAPPENED:

  • The contest saw nine ties and six lead changes and neither team led by more than seven points the entire game.
  • The Rams jumped out to an 11-4 lead midway through the first quarter when Padellaro sank both her shots from the line but the Lions chipped away to tie the game at 17 one a Herbert trey to end the first quarter.
  • The Lions extended their second quarter lead to 27-21 on a Ella Bushee layup with two minutes to go in the half and going into the break, up 32-28. The Rams would score the first points of the third with Padellaro and O’Connor both converting layups.
  • After trading leads a couple more times the Rams trailed 60-59 halfway through the 4th quarter after O’Connor knocked down a layup after an Emerson timeout. After getting a stop on the other end FSU found a great time to convert their only three-pointer of the day when Carpenter sunk one from long range to give the Rams a 62-60 lead that they would not relinquish. A Devin Hill layup with a minute to go cut Emerson’s deficit to one but the Rams were able to sink their free throws to preserve the victory.

UP NEXT: The Rams return to the court Tuesday evening when they host MIT in Framingham.
