WAYLAND – Elizabeth A. “Betty” (Martin) Salerno, 84, passed away on Tuesday, Novemeber 9, 2021 with her family at her side.

She was born in Arlington on February 16, 1937 the daughter of the late Leo Martin and Pauline (Gontkiewicz) Martin.

She was the beloved wife for 64 years of Charles M. Salerno of Wayland.

Besides her husband she is survived by her son Carl Salerno and his wife Nadia Salerno of Natick; her daughter Karen Micciche and her husband Salvatore “Tony” Micciche of Framingham; her son Michael Salerno and his wife Lolita Salerno of Cypress, TX and her daughter Mary Patti and her husband John Patti of Waxhaw, NC. She was the sister of Louise Bono and her husband Thomas Bono of North Easton. She also leaves nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Elizabeth spent her formative years in Dorchester and graduated from St. Gregory High School with the Class of 1955. She attended Framingham State College and received her degree in Home Economics in 1957.

For 22 years, Elizabeth was associated as an Accountant with Global Partners, LLC of Waltham before retiring.

She has been active in politics as a campaigner and was Past President and member of the Wayland Republican Town Committee. She also served as a Registrar for the Town of Wayland.

Elizabeth enjoyed spending time with her family and doing many home and yard projects at her residence in Wayland. Being an excellent cook, she hosted many get-togethers for family and friends. She had a keen interest in Egyptian history and astrology.


Visitations will be held on Sunday, November 14, 2021 from 2 to 5 p.m. at the John C. Bryant Funeral Home, 56 Pemberton Road in Wayland. Her family members will share stories and fond remembrances of Betty from 4:30 to 5 p.m.. Betty’s family has indicated that masks are optional for visitations at the funeral home.

At her request, interment will be private for family only.

In lieu of flowers, her family suggests that memorial gifts in her memory may be sent to the MSPCA-Angell, Attn: Donations, 350 South Huntington Ave, Boston, MA 02130 or the Wayland Police and Fire Association, POB 341 Wayland, MA 01778.
