FRAMINGHAM – James E. Fair, Jr. passed away peacefully on November 5, 2021 at his home in Framingham at the age of 76.

Born in Framingham to the late Loretta (Conlin) and James E. Fair Sr., Jim was a proud graduate of the inaugural class of Framingham North High School in 1964, captaining the football team in his senior year.

He was the third of four siblings, Patricia Cote of Venice, FL, Kathryn Fair of Provincetown, and Deborah Keefe of Englewood, FL. He is also survived by his four children; Timothy Fair and his wife Wan Tang, Erin Fair and her husband Patrick Ryan, Alison (Fair) Peoples and her husband Michael Peoples, and Colin Fair and his wife Robyn Fair, in addition to six grandchildren, Calvin, Corinne, Mara, Declan, Owen and Justin, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Jim was a History and Social Studies teacher in the Millis School System from 1969-2004, teaching mostly 8th grade social studies with humor and understanding.

He was known for his love of The Beach Boys, peppermint stick ice cream from the Newport Creamery and in his younger days, fast sports cars.

A lifelong sports fan, he never missed one of his children’s games, once leaving a broken-down car on a 128 off-ramp and renting a car from the adjacent dealership (thanks, Muzi Ford) to attend a track meet in time. He was a season ticket holder to the Patriots in the lean years of the 70s, faithfully attending games with his dad.

And he was a longtime Boston College football season ticket holder, particularly fond of telling the story of where he was for the Hail Flutie in 1984.

The family would also like to thank Jim’s caregiver Elie Rousseau for her loving care in his final months.

Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend his memorial Mass at St. Bridget Parish, 830 Worcester Road in Framingham on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at 10 a.m.

A Celebration of Life will be planned for a future date.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in memory of Jim be made to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon Street, Watertown MA, 02472, or online at www.perkins.org
