SPRINGFIELD – The Springfield College men’s soccer program earned a non-conference 2-0 shutout victory over Framingham State on Tuesday night, September 28, at Brock-Affleck Field in Springfield.
Springfield College improved to 5-3 overall.
Framingham State is now 2-8 overall.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Jack Rosenberg (Simsbury, Conn.) scored for the Pride in the victory, while Finn Welch (Williamstown) paced Springfield’s offense with a pair of assists. The Pride outshot the Rams, 12-5.
- Springfield gained an early 1-0 advantage as Welch connected with Rosenberg at the 7:09 mark, minutes later, Welch helped the Pride build on their lead with another helper to Maitoe Suppasuesanguan (Bangpongpang, Yannawa, Bangkok) for the 2-0 lead in the 11th-minute.
- Framingham State looked to edge into the Pride’s lead, at 49:48, as the Rams’ set up a corner kick that found Nicolas Santos for the header try, however, Clayton Knibbs (Madison, Conn.) was able to pull in the shot to keep Springfield ahead 2-0. In the 69th minute, Rosenberg was awarded a penalty kick and looked to advance the Springfield lead, but Sturzo made a play on the ball, which kept the Pride’s lead at 2-0.
UP NEXT: The Rams return to action on Saturday when they travel to Salem State for a pivotal MASCAC matchup.
