FRAMINGHAM – St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham laid off about 13% of its staff last month.

According to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the nonprofit, short-term and long-term care facility, that has operated in Framingham for more than 50 years, laid off 59 employees on July 28.

The facility notified the Commonwealth of Massachusetts of the pending layoffs in early June, as part of the Worker Adjustment Retraining Act (WARN).

The Commonwealth notified Mayor Spicer on June 7.

Her administration never made a public statement.

According to City records, St. Patrick’s Manor at 863 Central Street, employed about 450 individuals prior to the layoffs.

The facility, licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts for 333 beds, was hit hard by COVID-19.

In May 2020, 100 residents and more than 40 staffers had tested positive for the coronavirus.

The latest report from the Commonwealth had a total of 194 total patients who tested positive, with 31 residents dying from COVID-19.

That report had 144 staffers who tested positive for coronavirus., but with no staff deaths.
