FRAMINGHAM – The City of Framingham announced 5 individuals in the community have tested positive for COVID-19 cases since Friday, June 4.
Since the pandemic, there have been 249 deaths, as the City announced three new deaths today, June 7.
Active cases in the City of Framingham decreased significantly since Monday, May 24 from 1,511 to 439 today, June 7, after SOURCE questioned the City’s numbers last week.
That is a 1,072 drop from active cases in less than 2 weeks.
The Massachusetts Department of Public Health defines an active case as a positive case, confirmed by a test, within the last 21 days.
Today’s release by the City of Framingham on COVID numbers notes ” The City’s COVID team is working in the State’s data system to move lapsed or pending cases into the correct status.”

Individuals the City of Framingham is following in quarantine dropped to 499
Framingham has had a total of 8,337 coronavirus cases since the pandemic began. Framingham has about 74,500 residents.
That means more than 11% of the City has been diagnosed with COVID-19 since the pandemic began in March 2020.

With the new updated numbers released today, the City of Framingham is now reporting 7,649 individuals have recovered from the coronavirus.
DePalo told SOURCE “cases are moved into a Recovered status when the individual has completed isolation and is not experiencing any COVID symptoms (including fever without a fever-reducing medication). Isolation is a minimum of 10 days however it can be longer if symptoms persist or if the individual becomes severely ill. It is a case by case determination.”

As of April 19, the general public, age 16 and older became eligible for the vaccine.
The FDA & the CDC approved Pfizer’s vaccine for individuals age 12 and older last month.
The Commonwealth of Massachusetts is hosting a free COVID-19 testing site, run by Project Beacon.
The site is located at 123 Maple Street in a parking lot owned by Framingham State University.
