Massachusetts Removes MCAS Graduation Requirement For Class of 2022

MALDEN – The Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education voted unanimously voted to not require members of the graduating class of 2022 to pass the MCAS exam to receive their diploma.

The proposal is due to the more-than-year long pandemic.

Members of the Class of 2022 may still take the test this spring to qualify for the Adams Scholarship and Koplik Certificate of Mastery.

The State adjusted the MCAS requirements for the Class of 2020 and the Class of 2021 due to the pandemic.

Those seniors could demonstrate competency in other ways, such as course credit in English or mathematics.
