Callahan Center Presents The Enchantment of Oaxaca Mexico

FRAMINGHAM – The Callahan Center will present Mexico: The Enchantment of Oazaca virtually on Tuesday, April 13.

Registration for the 1:30 p.m. program must be received by April 9. The program is for those age 55 and older.

Devik Wyman will present the virtual lecture on April 13.

Vibrant craft traditions, archaeological sites, gourmet food, perfect weather and cosmopolitan city life characterize Oaxaca
(pronounced “wa HA ka”), a city in south-central Mexico.

Meet weavers, ceramic folk artists, wood carvers, and learn about their crafts. Enjoy the costumes, village traditions and revelry of Carnaval in a small Mexican village.

Visit the dramatic 1500-year-old mountaintop ruins of Monte Alban, the pools and waterfalls of scenic Hierve el Agua, and more with photos and tales from Devik’s visits to Oaxaca over 15 years.

From 2006 to 2020, Wyman traveled frequently to Latin America to source products for her fair trade store. She sometimes lived
with families while studying Spanish and learning about local cultures and social justice issues.

Pre-pandemic, Wyman led small-group tours to Mexico and Guatemala.
