Ashland Community Center Receives 2 CSA Shares at Upswing Farm

ASHLAND – The Ashland Community Center graciously received two CSA shares for the upcoming season at Upswing Farm in Franklin and Pepperell on behalf of the Ashland Food Pantry.

A CSA share includes a weekly box of fresh produce based on the availability of vegetables in the given season.

A generous community member, who wishes to remain anonymous, donated a CSA share to the Ashland Food Pantry from Upswing Farm. Upswing Farm then matched the donation, providing the food pantry two CSA shares for the year.

“We are overjoyed at this opportunity to provide fresh produce from our Food Pantry,” said Director of Human Services, Jennifer Wuelfing.

Upswing Farm has a long-standing relationship with the Town of Ashland as a staple vendor at Ashland Farmers Market providing a vast array of vegetables at their on-site farm stand.

Upswing Farm continues to serve the community as a provider in the state’s Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) providing fresh produce to SNAP members.

This year, Upswing will participate in SNAP’s Healthy Incentives Program (HIP), allowing SNAP benefits to purchase CSA shares at Upswing Farm. Upswing farm accepts SNAP and HIP at all of their locations. Upswing Farm accepts SNAP benefits for CSA shares at the Holliston and Hopkinton sites. Customers can pick up produce at regular CSA distribution and participation is confidential.
