Framingham School District Reports 51st COVID Case

FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Public schools is reporting its 51st COVID-19 positive case this 2020-21 school year today, March 4.

The district does not state when it reports positive cases if they are a teacher, staff, or a student.

The latest case is at King Elementary School. This brings the total number of cases at King in 2020-21 to five,

That is the school with the third highest number of COVID cases in the district.

Framingham High School has reported the most cases in the school year at 11. Fuller Middle School is second with 7 cases.

The King case is the third this month. Previously cases this month were at Stapleton Elementary and Cameron Middle.

This is the 15th case since January 1.

The district has been testing staff weekly, and students, via pooled testing.

There was a positive pool case at Brophy Elementary since Phase III students returned to the classrooms.

Phase III students returned to their physical classrooms on February 24. It was the first time in a physical classroom for these students in the 2020-21 school year. They are attending school all five days.

Phase IV students, many who have not physically been in a classroom since March 2020, began on March 3 for cohort B and will begin Monday for cohort A,.

Last night, Framingham Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay said the public school district has administered about 4,000 COVID tests, and had “only 8 positive cases.” Tremblay told the 9-member School Committee the district’s rate of positivity is 0.17%.

In comparison, the City of Framingham rate of positivity is over 3 percent.
