FRAMINGHAM – Teachers & staff are set to return to their classroom tomorrow, February 1.

But a major snowstorm is forecasted for February 1 and 2 in Massachusetts.

“While there will likely be a small adjustment this week given the impending storm, the plan is to have all staff return, in-person, this week with the return of Phase I & II in-person as well. Given our district’s approval for pooled testing, I anticipate that we will bring Phase III & IV students back shortly after February vacation week,” said Framingham Public Schools Superintendent of Schools Bob Tremblay this morning, January 31.

“I am looking at the weather and possibly making some adjustments to the schedule. I will provide notification to FPS staff and families later today for planning purposes,’ said Tremblay about the possibility of a snow day to the digital news media outlet.

Most K-12 students have not been in their classroom since mid-March 2020, when the pandemic began.

In October, phase 1, or the district’s highest needs students return to the classrooms. In November, phase II, of the district’s high need students returned to the classrooms. The majority of the students about 8,500 of the district’s 9,000+ students were still learning remotely at that time.

After Thanksgiving, and a second surge of the coronavirus, the City of Framingham and the school district decided to make the entire district remote as of December 7.

Students in phase 1 and phase 2 are scheduled to return back to the classrooms February 3.

Students in phases 3 & 4, are not scheduled to return to the classroom until February 22, which at that time Fall II athletics could begin. Although this date could change.
