FRAMINGHAM – First responders in Framingham received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine at Nevins Hall at the Memorial Building today, January 16.
Members of the Fire Department, the Police Department, and employees of the Brewster ambulance staff received their first Moderna COVID-10 vaccine shot. Members of the Framingham State University Police and MassBay Community College police were also eligible for the vaccine at the clinic.
The Moderna vaccine is two shots – 28 days apart. The Moderna vaccine goes into the muscle cells of the arm.

Clinical trials showed Moderna’s vaccine was 94% effective in preventing symptomatic infections.

First responders are part of Phase 1 of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts vaccine plan.
First responders were eligible for the vaccine starting this week.
Mayor Yvonne Spicer was at Nevins Hall today but did not receive a shot.
