FRAMINGHAM – Within 48 hours of an early morning armed home invasion in Ashland, Ashland Police, working cooperatively with Framingham Police and Massachusetts State State Police, arrested a Framingham man and a Framingham teen and charged them with the violent crime, said Ashland Police Chief Vince Alfano.
Both the Framingham man and the teen have ICE (Immigration and Customs Enforcement) detainers on them, said the police chief.
“They are in the country illegally,” said Chief Alfano.
The Framingham teen, 17, also had six outstanding warrants out of Wellesley and Framingham. It is possible he committed a similar crime in Wellesley.
One of the two men involved in the Ashland home invasion was arrested by Framingham Police on Wednesday, following a motor vehicle stop on Route 9 near Motel 6.
The Framingham teen was arrested on Gordon Street in Framingham on Thursday, December 31, explained the Ashland Police Chief.
He tried to jump out of an apartment window, and landed where one of my officers was standing, said the Ashland Chief.
Arrested on Wednesday was Daniel Resende, 21, of 17 East Street of Framingham.
Both him and the 17-year-old Framingham teen were charged with breaking and entering with the intent to commit a felony; home invasion; armed burglary; assault in a dwelling with a firearm; two counts of vandalism to property; carrying a loaded firearm without a license; carrying a firearm without a license; possession of ammunition without an FID card; two counts of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon; two counts of assault to commit a felony; assault and battery on a person older than 60; and aggravated assault and battery

The armed home invasion happened at 2 a.m. on Wednesday, December 30 on Buckley Avenue, in pretty-much a secluded neighborhood in the Town of Ashland.
Chief Alfano said he personally visited with neighbors in that neighborhood today to tell them of the arrests, to try to put their minds at ease.
“At no time, did we feel there was any other threat to the neighborhood,” said the Chief to SOURCE today, January 1.
“At first, we though this wasn’t a random incident. But since then we have developed some information that indicates the house may have been selected by chance,” said Chief Alfano.
The two men broken into the home with loaded shotguns, said Chief Alfano.
Ashland Police received a 9-1-1 call on the home invasion from the homeowners.
One of the two homeowners, a U.S. Marine, fought with them, said the Chief.
The male homeowner was injured and needed to be treated by firefighters/EMTs.
“I believe they were not expecting resistance from the couple,” said the Chief. “That is why they fled so quickly.”
An armed home invasion in the Town of Ashland is “very very unusual,” said the Chief. This is the first since he became chief two years ago,
The Chief said his department had two cruisers on the scene within a minute, but the vehicle had left the neighborhood quickly.
Ashland Chief Alfano saod the department’s K-0dog, Ajax, tracked a scent and was able to locate shotgun shells on the ground.
Ashland officers went through security camera footage from homes in the neighborhood and were able to identify the light-colored van arriving, parking, and fleeing the Ashland neighborhood, said the Chief.
Later that morning Framingham Police found the van, which was reported stolen out of Worcester, and stopped a a truck, stolen out of Worcester.
Inside the truck were two shotguns, said the Ashland Chief.
One of the four people Framingham had in custody from that stolen truck, we were able to link to the home invasion, said Chief Alfano.
Through more detective work, which included the MetroWest Drug Task Force and the Mass State Police, Ashland Police went to a Gordon Street residence in Framingham at 8 p.m. to arrest the teen.
