FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham Clerk Lisa Ferguson requested the 2021 preliminary election date be changed from September 21 to September 14, due to a Jewish holiday.

The Charter states a a “preliminary election for the purpose of nominating candidates be held on the third Tuesday in September in every odd-numbered year,” but September 21 is Sukkot, a Jewish holy day.

The Framingham City Council unanimously approved the change Tuesday night 11-0.
