FRAMINGHAM – Lester Baker was officially sworn in as the City of Framingham’s new police chief this morning, December 8.
“At 9:30 a.m. today, the City Clerk swore in Lester Baker as the City of Framingham’s eighth Chief of Police. Chief Baker requested that his official swearing-in be a low key event as to discourage a gathering and prevent the transmission of COVID-19. It was held in the Ablondi Room and attended by Chief Baker, the City Clerk, myself, and a couple of others,” wrote Mayor Yvonne Spicer to City Councilors at 10:05 a.m. today.
“When it is safe, we will hold a more formal, ceremonial swearing-in for the Chief to which you will all be invited, of course. Meantime, please join me in congratulating Framingham’s new Chief of Police, Lester Baker,” wrote the Mayor.

City Councilors had approved Baker as chief in an 11-0 vote.
Mayor Spicer told a panel of mayors last night that she was “pleased and proud of my City Council” for that vote.
The City Council had asked to be notified of the swearing in ceremony.
