AAA: Massachusetts Gas Prices Up 2 Cents

FRAMINGHAM – Massachusetts’s average gas price is up two cents from last week ($2.08), averaging $2.10 per gallon, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham.

Today’s price is 3 cents higher than a month ago ($2.07), and 46 cents cheaper than December 7, 2019 ($2.56). Massachusetts’s average gas price is 6 cents lower than the national average.

“With travel down, it’s no surprise that we saw the lowest Thanksgiving demand for fuel since 1997,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director of Public and Government Affairs, in a press release. “But robust gains in crude oil prices and the OPEC decision to increase production next year combined to boost prices 2 to 12 cents in a number of states.”

AAA Northeast’s December 7 survey of fuel prices found the current national average to be 4 cents higher than last week ($2.12), averaging $2.16 a gallon.

Today’s national average price is 5 cents higher than a month ago ($2.11), and 42 cents cheaper than this day last year ($2.58).
