FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Mayor Yvonne Spicer did an hour-long virtual Q&A with about a dozen residents at The Branches of Framingham on Pleasant Street in Framingham on Friday afternoon, November 20.
Mayor Spicer spoke about the need to wear a mask when in public, to stay socially-distant, at least 6 feet apart, and to not celebrate Thanksgiving with people outside of your immediate families this year.
The Branches of Framingham is an assisted living community choice for older adults who value their independence but need assistance with daily life activities. It opened last year at the former Marist property.
There are about two dozen residents living at Branches in November 2020. About a dozen attended the Q&A with the Framingham Mayor.
The mayor explained to resident when the city’s cases of positive go above 4% it is in the red zone.
“We are at 4.36%,” said the Mayor. “We were in the yellow a day ago. Now we are in the red. I guess we are more like in the orange, so to speak.”
The Mayor said the City’s case numbers are going up.
She is correct. In August, the city was averaging 8 COVID cases per day per 100,000 people.
In early November, that number increased to 15 cases per day.
This week, the cases are more than 30 cases per day per 100,000 people.

Besides the coronavirus, the residents also talked to the Mayor about re-naming schools, the need for fewer apartment buildings, and if there is a need for a new school in the City.
