FRAMINGHAM – Keefe Technical High School, a regional 9-12 high school in Framingham, has decided to postpone its planned hybrid education model due to a “significant increase” in COVID cases in the area, said superintendent of Schools Jonathan Evans, today, November 17.
The regional technical high school, that covers Framingham, Ashland, Natick, Holliston & Hopkinton, had planned to start a hybrid model after Thanksgiving.
“During the past week, our area has experienced a significant increase in COVID-19 cases. Based on this increase, and the challenges caused by our accelerated timeline, we have made the difficult decision to postpone the start of our Career and Technical Hybrid Model. This means that for the time being, students will continue learning from home and we will not be able to provide in-person learning to additional students immediately after Thanksgiving,” wrote Evans to families this afternoon, November 17.

Tonight’s planned meeting for parents has been postponed.
“We will continue to work closely with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education and the Board of Health to chart a course for re-opening. In early December, we will provide an updated timeline, and we will schedule a Parent Information Session to fully explain our Hybrid Learning Plan,” said Evans.
“It has been wonderful having our highest needs students in school this week, and we look forward to welcoming more students back in a hybrid model as soon as we are able,” said Evans.

“I realize this is disappointing news to students and families who were looking forward to a return this month. For that I sincerely apologize,” wrote Evans to families. “Please know that we are navigating this unprecedented situation without a playbook. We will always make the safety of our school community our top priority in all the decisions we make. Thank you for your continued cooperation during these challenging time.”
Framingham Public Schools has brought back highest needs students in October and November, with the intention to bring back another 2,000 high needs students in December. A hybrid model is scheduled to begin in January 2021.
