FRAMINGHAM – Friday, February 28, after 39 years and 7 months of service, Framingham Police Officer Peter Galvani retired.
He held badge #1 as the longest-serving officer in the department.
Galvani began his service with Framingham in 1980, and in his first year, he received a commendation for his undercover work in a lengthy narcotics investigation.

In 1987, Officer Galvani received another commendation for his work in apprehending an armed man with an explosive device.
In 1989, Officer Galvani was commended for his work in arresting a robbery suspect.
In 2002, Officer Galavani received a letter of merit for his work to arrest a suspect in an Ashland armed robbery.
On Friday, a small retirement party was held in the rollcall room, where Galvani met for almost four decades. The Police Chief, all the deputy chiefs, and more than 2 dozen officers stopped by to wish Galvani well.
“It’s great to give Peter a good send-off, Pete is one of those guys that never complained, and always came in and gave 100 percent,” said Police Chief Steven Trask. “And on those crazy nights, working on the 4-12 shift, and it was just so busy, the best thing that I remember about Pete was, he was this voice of calm no matter what was going on. It was so reassuring to hear Peter’s voice, that everything was under control, no matter what was going on”
Chief Trask described his friend as a police officer who had “a great amount of composure, a little bit of sarcasm, and a little bit of humor. He was just the perfect mix and phenomenal.”
Trask said he will remember all the “great calls and all the great stories” with Galvani.

“I am going to miss the good times. I know it can be stressful on families but I met a lot of nice people here. You guys are my friends,” said Galvani on Friday.
“I just can’t say thank you enough for the friendship and the way we did the job together,” said Galvani. “I made a lot of friends for life here.”
He also thanked his family for being patient and understanding with him and his career of almost 4 decades.
