211 Framingham Housing Authority Members & Staff Tested; Just 1 Positive Case of COVID

FRAMINGHAM – Earlier this month, free coronavirus testing was made available to senior citizens living in Framingham Housing Authority units, said Executive Director Paul Landers.

Residents in Memorial House, Hastings Housing, and those that live on Brady Drive, Arsenal Road, Gallagher Road, and Rose Kennedy Lane were given the opportunity to take the test. It was not mandatory but optional, said Landers.

Two hundred and eleven residents were tested, and only one positive case was confirmed said Assistant Director Helen Plant, to SOURCE on Tuesday, September 22.

Since March, the Authority has prohibited gatherings in building lobbies, said Plant.

“We try to police it the best we can to prevent groups from hanging out,” added Plant.

Community rooms are closed at the housing authority, said Plant.

“We allow small coffee hour outside  – its spaced and monitored by staff; but we have been messaging that outside is safer for socializing,” said Plant.

Residents are asked to wear face coverings and to follow the 6-foot social distancing rule, said the Framingham Housing Authority.

The Framingham Housing Authority has been providing education to residents and staff about the virus, since March, said Plant.

The Authority has also been “providing masks; helping with delivery of food or paper products and constant reminds about masks and handwashing,” said Plant.
