ASHLAND – Today, June 13, was the opening of the Ashland Farmers Market for the season.

The Market looks different this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

There is no tables, no entertainment, and fewer booths.

The booths are only along Front Street and not along the tracks.

There are social distancing lines and one-way paths. Socializing is discouraged.

But there are many great options and some favorites like Julie Z’s Breads.

The market will be held on Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 125 Front Street, across from the Ashland Library for 18 consecutive Saturdays.

Safety will be our number one priority, said organizers.

The new setup is geared to help customers select and pick up their produce and goods quickly and safely, said organizers.

Ashland Town Manager Michael Herbert said there were more than 1,000 people at today’s opening for the market.

The Ashland Farmers Market will be an outdoor essential food market this year, said organizers.

The market will accept SNAP and match up to $20 per market visit. Two farms will accept H.I.P. for SNAP users. Come to the Market Managers tent with your EBT or P-EBT card for SNAP tokens.

The Ashland Farmers Market recommends making a shopping list beforehand, preordering where possible, and sending just one family member to the market, said organizers.
