AAA: Gas Prices Up 6 Cents; Massachusetts June Prices Lowest Since 2004

FRAMINGHAM – Gasoline prices in Massachusetts are up six cents this week, according to AAA Northeast, which has an office in Framingham on Route 9.

AAA Northeast’s June 8 survey of prices in Massachusetts finds self-serve, regular unleaded averaging $2.01 per gallon.

Massachusetts’s price is two cents below the national average of $2.03.

A year ago at this time, the average price in Massachusetts was 70 cents higher at $2.71 per gallon.

“The beginning of June has not seen gas prices this low since 2004,” said Mary Maguire, AAA Northeast Director, Public and Legislative Affairs, in a press release “But as crude oil prices trend higher and gasoline demand increases, Americans will see gas prices push more expensive, although this summer will be cheaper than last.”

The range in prices in the latest AAA survey for unleaded regular is 68 cents, from a low of $1.71 to a high of $2.39.

AAA advises motorists to shop around for the best prices in their area. Please remember to slow down and move over for any emergency vehicles on the side of the road.
