Sr. M. Brendan Sean, O.Carm, who was born into eternal life very peacefully in the early morning hours of Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, MA, in the 55th year of her religious life.
The Sisters visited and prayed with Sr. Brendan in the days and hours prior to her passing. This past summer, several family members, including nieces and nephews from Ireland, visited her at St. Patrick’s Manor – a visit she and her family very much enjoyed.
Bridget Phillips was born on November 25, 1937, in Cloontia, Co. Mayo, Ireland, to Patrick and Mary Ann (nee Egan) Phillips. In addition to her parents, her siblings John, Brendan, and Mary Ann pre-deceased her. Coming to the United States, Sr. Brendan eventually settled in the Bronx, NY and became an American citizen.
Sr. Brendan Sean entered the Congregation on September 8, 1969, and received the Carmelite Habit on March 30, 1970. She made her First Profession of Vows on April 3,1972 and professed Perpetual Vows on April 2, 1977. Her Missions included Fern cliff Residence (1972-1977), St. Patrick’s Home (1977-1979), Madonna Residence (1979-1980), St. Raphael’s Home (1980-1992), Kahl Home (2009- 2012), Garvey Manor (2012-2016), and Mary Manning Walsh Home (2016-2017). Over the years,
Sr. Brendan’s ongoing education included the successful completion of a Food Service Operations Manager Program, and an Executive Housekeeping Certificate Program. She also received Certification as an Activity Assistant, and completed the Avila Institute’s Geriatric Spiritual Care Program, all of which benefited her in our Mission to serve our residents.
Family and friends will honor and remember Sr. Brendan’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the Holy Family Chapel of St. Patrick’s Manor on Sunday, October 27th from 2-4PM. Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Chapel on Monday morning at 10 o’clock. Interment will follow in Queen of Carmel Cemetery, St. Teresa’s Motherhouse, 600 Woods Rd., Germantown, NY, at 2PM.
