Robert “Bob” Kelly, 80, of Framingham, MA passed away peacefully on September 15, 2024 at his home with his loving wife, Noreen Begley, by his side.

Bob was born in Worcester and grew up in Woburn where he attended local schools and graduated from Lowell Technological Institute (now UMass Lowell).  He worked for several years as an engineer before finding his true calling in life as a teacher at Wentworth Institute of Technology, where he taught for 25 years.  He left for a while to pursue a career in real estate sales and investing, but later returned to Wentworth for the last 10 years of his career because he found teaching so rewarding.

Bob was an avid reader and Bob Dylan fan, “social” golfer and in his younger days was a decorated competitive rifle shooter.  In his retirement he enjoyed summer weekends on Cape Cod and winter vacations on Siesta Key, FL.  He was a kind and generous person who always put others ahead of himself.   Bob lived his last 10 years with grace and courage while suffering from Parkinson’s disease.

Besides his wife, Noreen, he will be greatly missed by his brother-in-law, Thomas Begley and his wife, Adrienne, of Loudonville, NY, his niece, Caitlin Begley of Loudonville, NY, and nephew, Conor Begley and his partner, Scott Hughes of Glenville, NY.

Family and friends will honor and remember Bob’s life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Tuesday morning, September 24th from 9-10:30AM. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Bridget Church, 830 Worcester Rd, Framingham at 11 o’clock. Burial will be private at a later date.

Considering Bob’s love for books and education, in lieu of flowers donations may be made to: The  Framingham Library Foundation, 49 Lexington St., Framingham, MA 01702 or the St. Bridget HAS (Help a Student Scholarship) fund at 15 Wheeler Ave. Framingham, MA 01702.
