Joseph Ryan Pelkey, 36, of Framingham and formerly Holliston, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday, June 22, 2024. Born in Milford, he was the son of Brian Pelkey of Holliston and the late Carol (Gebhardt) Carey of Yarmouth.
Joseph graduated from Holliston high school in 2006 after an interesting yet inspiring high school career. Shortly thereafter, he enlisted in the United States Air Force and was stationed in Dover, Delaware. He proceeded to do multiple tours overseas, including Korea, Kyrgyzstan, and Afghanistan. By the end of his military career, Joseph had achieved the rank of Staff Sergeant. After an honorable discharge once returning stateside, he spent most of his time in Massachusetts with his mother, father, and siblings or in Montana with his daughter. He later moved home to Yarmouth, Massachusetts to help care for his terminally ill mother with his four siblings. Joseph was a music enthusiast and could often be found outside, barefoot. He radiated generosity, humility, and light. If you have ever read the book “The Giving Tree,” that was him. He would give until he had nothing left.
In addition to his father, Joseph is survived by his daughter, Ava Grace Pelkey of Montana; his siblings, Ashley Reardon, Savannah Carey, Danielle Sullivan, Nicholas Pelkey and Robert Reardon; and his stepfather Denis Carey of Yarmouth. (Carol’s husband). He is predeceased by his brother, Brandon Pelkey.
