Preceded in death by her parents James and Elizabeth (Cooper) Kelly, of Long Island, and five siblings: James (Jimmy) of Jamaica, N.Y., Elizabeth (Betty) (Kelly) Miranda of Brentwood, TN, Patricia (Pat), and Brian Kelly of Long Island.
Maureen and Ned met via phone when they were both working for different divisions of Household Finance Co. After many months of daily conversations, they decided to meet at St. Patrick’s Cathedral in New York City. It was love at first sight. On July 6, 1963, they were happily wed. Maureen was loved by all those she met and with her beautiful smile and contagious laugh she brought happiness to all. She would welcome everyone into her home and make them feel welcomed and loved.
Despite never going to college, she became very successful in the business world. She was liked and respected by all she encountered. She retired at age 72 from Zurich (formerly known as Universal Underwriters), where she worked for over thirty years as a Customer Service Representative. Being a lifelong learner, avid reader, and crossword puzzle connoisseur, she dreamed of one day being a contestant on Jeopardy, and in 1965 while pregnant with her daughter had the opportunity to audition. Something she was very proud of. Never one to stay idle for long, she was always involved in a do-it-yourself project at home and often roped in her oldest son Ed to help. They made a great team !! If not working on a project, you would find her gardening, cooking, or watching Jeopardy, Murder She Wrote, Matlock, Perry Mason, and crime shows on BritBox.
She will be missed dearly by all those she left behind.
