Charles Richard West “Uncle Chuck”, 80, of Worcester, formerly of Framingham and New Hampshire, died Tuesday January 23, 2024 after a period of declining health. Born in Cambridge, he was the son of the late Charles R. & Margaret A. (Cronin) West.
Charles was a graduate of Belmont Vocation High School, and served his country honorably from 1965-1967 in the Unites States Navy. Upon his return to civilian life, he pursued college degrees in business management and personal relations.
For the majority of Charles career, he worked as an experimental tool and die maker as a machinist. He later changed gears and became a plumber, finally retiring from a career in commercial property management. His heart was always with his first career as a machinist.
Charles was a member of several social clubs over the years, and was always one to volunteer for fund raising, but preferred to stay behind the scenes and out of the limelight.
Charles is survived by his twin children, Carol A. and Steven R. both of Worcester, his cherished granddaughter, Alexis Caryn, and his sister, Maureen A. (West) Bernard of CA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Besides his former wife Penny J. (Bothwell), Charles was predeceased by his sister, Karen Cassidy.
Family and friends will honor and remember Charles’ life by gathering for visiting hours in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Thursday, February 1, 2024 from 4-7PM. Interment will take place in MA National Cemetery at a later date.
