Angelo E. Urbani, 85, a longtime resident of Framingham, died Saturday, June 24, 2023 with his son by his side.  Born in Waltham, he was the son of Italian immigrants, the late Peter & Corina (Simonazzi) Urbani.

Angelo was raised and educated in Framingham Public Schools, and had already learned to play the saxophone and clarinet before he learned English in the sixth grade. He was a graduate of the Berkley School of Music in Boston, and taught music in the Natick and Wellesley public schools for 30 years. During all of this he was the drummer at the Maridor, Framingham, the Copley Plaza, Wonderland Ball Room and Lombardo’s. He often played drums at the Parker house.

Angelo was invited by then State Treasurer Bob Crane to be in the Treasury Note Band who played shows around Boston and Florida, and was known to play at special parties for the Boston Pops.

A kind man who would open his home to anyone, Angelo’s love for music came a close second to his love of family.  He is survived by his loyal son, Patrick Urbani of Framingham, his loving brother Frank Urbani, Sr. of Framingham, his nieces, Kim Aarden & her husband Kion of Ashland, and Gina Urbani Lynch & her husband Shawn of Holliston, his nephew, Frank Urbani, Jr. & his wife Cynthia of Marlborough, and dear family friend, Billy Fullerton of Wellesley.

Besides his parents, Angelo was predeceased by his sister in law, Vivienne Urbani.

A special thank you to St. Patrick’s Manor in Framingham, especially the St. Joseph Unit for their love and care.

Family and friends will honor and remember Angelo’s life by gathering for a time of visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Home, 11 Lincoln St. Framingham on Friday morning, June 30th from 9:30 – 10:30AM.  His graveside service will follow in St. Tarcisius Cemetery, 180 Winthrop St. Framingham at 11 o’clock.
