At-Large Framingham City Councilor King Announces Re-Election Campaign

FRAMINGHAM – City of Framingham City Councilor at Large George King announced today, April 24, he is seeking re-election to the City Council in this fall’s City election.

“I know it feels a bit early to be making my announcement, but many people have inquired if I intended to run, and I certainly do, so I decided to formally announce,” King said.

“I want to continue to bring a unique perspective to the Council. I am primarily interested in the financing of government and the efficiency of the operation that is powered by our financial investment,” he explained.

King is a former Framingham Town Manager (1999-2005), who also served as a school administrator and principal in the Nashoba Regional School District (Bolton, Lancaster and Stow) for over a decade.

King believes the City is making significant progress under the administration of Mayor Charlie Sisitsky, but acknowledges there is always more to be accomplished.

“Mayor Sisitsky has brought new energy to city government and has made some significant accomplishments in his first year plus in office. Things that were stalled for so long, are now happening, such as the acquisition of the rail trail from CSX and the advancement of a new parking structure at the Memorial Building to name two. I want to support these efforts as they move forward to fruition,” he said.

As much as he appreciates the work of the Mayor, King still sees his role as a fiscal watchdog.

“Budgeting is a key responsibility of the City Council, and though I am more confident in the administration than I was in the past, I am still driven to assure we provided city services at an affordable, predictable and stable cost,” said King.

King served as Council chair during the time of the pandemic in 2020 and 2021.

He currently chairs the Council’s finance subcommittee and serves as a member of both the education subcommittee and the economic development subcommittee.

King is a self-employed attorney, with an office on Route 9. His practice centers on criminal defense work and areas of civil litigation.

He is married to Allison Potter, who is the Assistant Town Manager in Medway.

King has two adult children, Cortney and Kathleen, both graduates of Framingham High School.

He is a homeowner on Auburn Street in Framingham Center.
