FRAMINGHAM – Marguerite Harriette LaMarque peacefully ended this portion of her journey on May 13, 2021 at age 98 in her home here in Framingham.

Beloved wife of the late George H. LaMarque and Loving mother of Kimberley, Michelle, Bryan, Georgette, and Lawrence.

Born in Boston on November, 1922 to Edward Dixon and Christine Dennis, Mom grew up on Cape Cod with her parents and 4 siblings. Grandpa Dixon, a successful, disciplined, self-made man, manufactured soap and sold it door to door.

Marguerite emulated her father’s drive and ethic. A devout Catholic, she seriously considered becoming a nun.

In her late teens she moved to Boston to find work… And work hard she did… As a factory worker, a waitress, a seamstress, and nanny. At times she worked 2 or three jobs simultaneously while obtaining her Associate’s Degree.

When Mom met Dad, who was a coast Guard Serviceman in 1943, George LaMarque quickly became “The Love of her life.” Shortly thereafter they were married and started a family. Mom was 21.

They also decided to start a business. “Anything worth doing is worth doing well,” Mom would say, …And in fact everything Mom did, she did well.

Mom was an excellent businesswoman, line manager, bookkeeper, and backbone of LaMarque Foods…the family business which produced the “World’s Number 1 Onion Rings” for restaurants and schools along the Northeast coast.

In addition to running “The Shop” Mom, an excellent homemaker, seamstress, and cook who delighted in “making things.” Sewing, Knitting, Crocheting, Embroidery, and Calligraphy were amongst her hobbies for her “spare time.”

In April of 1961 the growing business and growing family moved to Framingham to the address which remains the family residence.

An active member of the NAACP, Mom was a Scout Leader in both the Boys and Girl Scouts programs.

A devout wife and mother, she wholeheartedly supported her husband and children in their activities and in their careers.

Mom and Dad had 5 children, Lawrence, Georgette, Bryan, Michelle and Kimberley. Marguerite LaMarque is predeceased by her husband and 2 sons, Lawrence LaMarque, Brian LaMarque (Surviving Spouse—Alice LaMarque), She is survived by 3 daughters, Georgette Tanner, Michelle Lignabou-LaMarque, Kimberley LaMarque Orman (Spouse-Roscoe Orman); her faithful companion and caretaker Marie Charlotte Buingi Phaka; her brother, Arthur Dixon (Spouse—Connie Dixon); her Grandchildren, Jocelyne Nguema, Jonathan Moussavou, Yoel Lignabou, Ismael Maganga-Bakita, Leslie Tanner, Michael LaMarque, Kevin LaMarque, Kim Thomas.

Mrs. Marguerite LaMarque, our Mother/Grandmother; our Sister/Great Grandmother; our wonderful Friend and Neighbor; who touched our lives so profoundly, will truly be truly missed, but our love and remembrances will not fade.
