Who was Edna Dean Proctor?

September 17 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pm

$10.00

Featuring: Storyteller Libby Franck

Sunday, September 17th at 2:00 p.m.
Edgell Memorial Library
3 Oak Street, Framingham, MA

She was a prolific poetess who supported herself with her writing of poems, essays, stories and travelogues.

She was a passionate patriot whose poetry in support of the Union Cause, elicited a response from President Lincoln.

She was a “Romantic Wanderer.” The publication of her book,  A Russian Journey, detailing her two year sojourn in this exotic land, won international acclaim.

She published a true slave narrative entitled “Aunt Sally” around the same time as Uncle Tom’s Cabin.

While she was a citizen of the world, her fondness for her home town of Framingham is evident in her poem  “Our Town” written for the Bi-Centennial celebration.

Come hear more as Libby Franck reveals fascinating discoveries about this Framingham resident.
