FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Fire extinguished a kitchen fire at a multi-family home in south Framingham yesterday, March 6.
The fire displaced a family of seven, and caused more than $100,000 worth of damage, said Framingham Assistant Fire Chief Mike Dutcher.
The American Red Cross is assisting the family.
Firefighters were called to 8 Dyer Street around 5:15 p.m. for a reported multi-family house fire in a 2 1/2 story structure.
The fire started on the second floor, in the kitchen area, said the assistant fire chief.
It is still under investigation, he said.
The fire was contained to mostly the kitchen, said assistant fire chief Dutcher.
“But there was significant water and smoke damage to both floors,” he added.
The house is not livable.
