FRAMINGHAM – Students across MetroWest were invited to create posters to celebrate Black History Month.
This afternoon, posters created by students at Stapleton ElementarySchool, as well as other Framingham and MetroWest schools were on display at an event sponsored by MetroWest Showing Up For Racial Justice at the New Bethel Baptist Church in Framingham.
Church Pastor Daniel Walker said he has always been bothered that Black History Month is designated for one month “as all of our histories should be celebrated each day.”
Pastor Walker said it is important to celebrate the accomplishments of African-Americans in history, but not just during the one month.
Today’s event also featured a presentation by Dhruba Sen on bystander intervention and ways to stand up for racial justice.
Framingham Source will publish a separate report on the bystander intervention presentation next week.
