FRAMINGHAM – Carl August Furbush, 89, of Framingham died Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Eliot Center for Health & Rehabilitation, Natick surrounded by his devoted family.
Furbush was born in Newton, son of the late Douglas D. and Alice (Carlson) Furbush and the widower of Marie Therese (Gilligan) Furbush who died in January 2016. Carl and Therese were married for over 64 years. He has been a resident of Framingham for over 60 years.
Furbush served in the US Navy during WWII on the USS Okaloosa as a Machinist and Electrician.
He worked as a Ford Motor Mechanic for over 40 years. He also worked at Station Road Auto Body in Sudbury, the YMCA in Framingham and for the last 20 years he worked at the Suburban Athletic Club in Framingham.
He was an avid Flea Market enthusiast. He thrived in the thrill of finding a treasure, making a repair and preparing it for sale. A trade he truly enjoyed.
Furbush is survived by two cherished daughters, Karen Sherman and her husband George of Framingham and Nancy Pawluczonek and her husband Anthony of Framingham. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren and their spouses, Jennifer and Aaron Dean of Adams, Lisa and Patrick Snow of Holliston, Kevin and Sarah Pawluczonek of Framingham, Kelly and Mireille Bassila of Framingham; nine great-grandchildren and his two brothers Douglas Furbush Jr., USN of Massachusetts and Norman “Fuzzy” Furbush, USAF of Florida. Preceding him in death were his brother and three sisters, Wesley J. Furbush II, USA, Alice Marie Furbush, Thelma Edwards, USMC and Barbara Ann Dusek, USN, of Massachusetts. He is also survived by his brother-in-law Francis “Frank” Gilligan and his wife Barbara of Florida. He is survived by all their loving families and cherished the love of his nephews and nieces.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral service on Saturday, February 3, at 10 a.m. at the Newton Cemetery Chapel, 791 Walnut St., Newton Center.
Burial will follow in the family lot at the cemetery.
