Flyers Relay Qualifies For State Meet in Loss to Newton North

DORCHESTER – Framingham High sprinters Leche Small-Brown, Zoie Carter, Saisha Small-Brown, and Grace Poku qualified for the state meet in winning the 4 X 200 relay yesterday in a meet aganst Newton North High at the Reggie Lewis Center in Dorchester.

Their time was 1:48.61 minutes.

Junior Leche Small-Brown also qualified individually for the state meet by winning the 300-meter race in 43.08 seconds.

The Flyers swept that event with Saisha Small-brown second in 43.92 seconds and junior Grace Poku third in 45.58 seconds.

The Flyers, however, lost to the Togers of Newton North 79-21.

The Framingham High girls indoor track team is 0-3 this season, under first-year head coach Ed Crowley.

Senior captain Carter won the dash for the Flyers in 7.82 seconds.

Other highlights included:

  • Sophomore Tess Robinson finished third in the 1000-meter race in 3:29.30 minutes.
  • Sophomore Paige Fisher ifnished third in the 2-mile event in 12:34.41 minutes.
  • Freshman Shannon Walker finished third in the high jump, with a leap of 4-feet 5-inches.
