FRAMINGHAM – Susan Lynn Gavin, 66, of Mashpee, formerly of Framingham, passed away from ovarian cancer on January 14, 2018.
She was the beloved daughter of the late Alfred and Edna Banwick.
Gavin graduated from Marian High School in Framingham.
She attended Mount Ida College in Newton, graduated from UMASS – Amherst, and ultimately received her Master’s degree in Social Work from Simmons College in Boston.
She worked as a social worker for many years until her retirement in May of 2017.
She enjoyed spending time at the beach and was a volunteer at the Special Olympics on Cape Cod. She also adored her quirky Boston Terrier, Bubba. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her family and many friends. She was a devoted mother, sister and friend, and will be dearly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by 2 sons, Matthew James Gavin, of North Carolina and Brett Laurence Gavin, of Mashpee, as well as her sister, Deborah “Bobbie” Banwick, of Mashpee. She also leaves behind other family members in several states.
A visitation will be held at the Chapman, Cole and Gleason Funeral Home at 74 Algonquin Ave. (RTE 151) in Mashpee on Thursday, January 18, 2018 from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
A funeral Mass will be held at Christ the King Church at 3 Job’s Fishing Rd. in Mashpee on Friday, January 19, 2018 at 10 a.m.
Burial will be private.
