Flyers Capture 3rd at State Relays

DORCHESTER – The Framingham High girls indoor track team captured third place in the 4X200 relay at the state relays on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center in Dorchester.

Runners Grace Poku, Saisha Small-Brown, Zoie Carter, and senior captain Leche Small-brown finished in 1:47.01 minutes.

In the 4 by 50 relay, Framingham thought they won, but the officials gave the win to Andover High, due to a DQ.

The Flyers were listed on the scoreboard as the winners, but were later disqualified as 2 out of the 3 officials said they saw a DQ in the race by Framingham. The Flyers were the defending champions in that event.

Their time of 25.6 seconds Friday, made them the fastest team in the state relays for three consecutive years, said boys indoor track coach Chris Collins.

Next up for the girls indoor track team, under first-year head coach Ed Crowley, is a meet against Newton North on Thursday, at the Reggie Lewis Center.
