FRAMINGHAM – Framingham High goalie Kallea Whitney-Blair allowed just one goal, in the Framingham Flyers 6-1 win over the Tigers of Newton North at Loring Arena on Wednesday afternoon.
Tess Lawson scored a goal and had three assists to lead Framingham High girls ice hockey team to its fourth win of the season.
Sophomore Georgia Parker scored two goals in the victory over Bay State Conference foe Newton North.
The Flyers are now 4-6 this season, under second-year head coach Mitch Mortali.
The program now has more wins than in its 2016-17 season, where the Flyers finished 3-17-1 overall and 0-16-1 in the Bay State Conference.
Early in the first period, Lawson got the Flyers on the scoreboard, off a pass from Parker.
The Flyers continued to play hard and two goals were scored by Parker at the end of the first period. Senior captain Ava Lopez assisted on one, and Lawson on the other.
The Flyers had a 3-0 lead headed into the middle period.
Framingham continued playing hard into the second period.
Late in the second period, freshman Rachel Marinofsky scored her first varsity goal, assisted by junior Caroline Stacey and Giovanna Winchester.
At the beginning of the third period, Newton North got the puck past Whitney-Blair, who had an amazing game.
Framingham followed with two goals – one by Kaylee Hall and one by captain Jess Despres. Lawson assisted on both goals.
Next up for the Framingham High girsl ice hockey team is a home game against the Wildcats of Weymouth High Jnauary 20 at 5 p.m. at Loring Arena.
