FRAMINGHAM – The Framingham Bring Your Bag Team hosted a educational event at the Callahan Senior Center this afternoon, January 10.
The 30-minute event was broken up into two parts. The first segment provided an overview of the Plastic Bag Reduction bylaw that went into effect on in Framingham on January 1.
The team, lead by Mike Croci, explained the economic and environmental benefits of BYOBag shopping.
With more than 60 individuals in attendance there were many great questions asked.
The second part of the event was a mini fashion show to demonstrate three different reusable bags that the BYOBag team had purchased specifically designed for seniors. Brigitte Griffin and Angela Garabet walked through the audience while Croci explained the details about each kind of bag.
All of the bags were handmade by a family-owned company called Enviro-Tote in Southern New Hampshire.
All 3 of the bags are machine washable, are made from 100% recycled materials and are smaller than the average reusable grocery bag making them easier for seniors to carry.
At the end of the event, attendees went home with 2 bags of their choice.
