FRAMINGHAM – The Open Spirit Gallery will host a reception for Massachusetts artist Claudia Ruiz-Gustafson exhibition Of Water and Dreams: Selected Images and Poems on Saturday, January 6 from 4 to 6 p.m.
Ruiz-Gustafson’s show explores concepts of memory, identity, dreams and the subconscious mind in three bodies of work. Images exploring the inner world include photography, poetry and mixed media assemblage pieces. Her work mixes the metaphorical and the symbolic.
Ruiz Gustafson’s themes draw on her very personal experiences growing up in Lima, Peru and her journey to Massachusetts where she arrived with only a suitcase and hope. The female figure as well as mirrors have figured prominently in her work.
