FRAMINGHAM – Framingham Public Schools is conducting searches for three elementary school principals for its nine elementary schools.
But today, Superintendent Robert Tremblay named a new principal for McCarthy Elementary School, who has been without a princpal since June 2017.
Framingham Assistant Superintendent of Schools Frank Tiano has been interim Principal, since a failed search last summer.
Tremblay has appointed Jennifer Y. Wu as Principal of McCarthy Elementary, starting February 5.
“Dr. Wu’s expertise in elementary instruction, her extensive work with turnaround schools, and her obvious commitment to students were evident not only during the interview process but also throughout our visit at the Hood School in Lynn where she is currently a program specialist (Assistant Principal),” said Tremblay.
Before assuming her current position at Hood, Wu served as a district program specialist leading Lynn’s Wraparound Zone Initiative, which provided targeted assistance to Lynn’s turnaround schools in the areas of student support and family engagement.
Prior to her work in Lynn, Wu was the founding director of a small learning community in Boston’s O’Bryant School of Math and Science.
Wu also served as the Assistant Director of the Boston Science Partnership, an NSF-funded partnership to improve science education in the Boston Public Schools and local colleges and universities.
