Framingham City Councilor-Elect Torres Helps To Make Christmas Special For 2,000 in Puerto Rico

PUERTO RICO  – Earlier this year, District 9 Framingham City Councilor-Elect Edgardo Torres was in Puerto Rico helping the residents prepare for and recover from the hurricanes.

Yesterday, Torres was back in Puerto Rico, with Margie Ann Rosario, helping to feed more than 2,000 individuals and deliver toys to the children of Rio Grandeas.

Torres was working with the organization SMILE Mass, based in Sudbury, which helps families raising children and adults with disabilities.

“I networked with SMILE mass and facilitated the contact and arrangement for the holiday meal and toy donations event,” said Torres from Puerto Rico last night.

“I am so privileged to be able to bring holiday cheer to the children of Rio Grande Puerto Rico and to see smiles on each child’s facem” said Torres, who volunteered with the American Red Cross ealier this year.

“It was also my pleasure to work along with the Mayor of Rio Grande Angel Bori Gonzalez and his staff and all the volunteers that participated at the event,” said Torres.

Torres will officially be sworn in with the 10 other Framingham City Councilors on January 1 at the Memorial Building.
