Burgess is training  to go to the national Junior Olympics Cross Country meet Saturday in Tallahassee, Florida.

Burgess, a student at the Christa McAuliffe Charter School, finished fifth at the regional meet. The top 30 runners from each of the regionals advance to nationals.

Burgess is part of a running family. Older brother Ben won the Turkey Classic on Thanksgiving day in Framingham. The entire family ran Devin’s Dash and the Turkey Classic this year.
