Kathryn ‘Kay’ (Lavin) Ferri, Taught At McCarthy Elementary For 45 Years

FRAMINGHAM – Kathryn “Kay” L. (Lavin) Ferri, a lifelong resident of Framingham, died on Saturday November 18, 2017.

She was the daughter of the late Edward J. Lavin and Margaret V. (Conrad) Lavin and widow of the late Louis E. Ferri.

She graduated from St. Stephen’s School and Framingham South High.

She also received a Bachelor’s Degree from Framingham State Teachers College and a Master’s Degree from Boston State College.

For 45 years, Kay taught at Miriam McCarthy Elementary School (formerly Warren Oaks School).

She was a long time Framingham Town Meeting member and served on the finance committee at St. Stephen’s Parish.

She is survived by her sister Marjorie Lavin, nephews Gary Lavin, Gregory Lavin and his wife Anne, nieces Kimberly Greenlaw and her husband Thom, Karen Stone and her husband Dale Schmid, her close cousin Joan Lohnes as well as many relatives and good friends.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law Margaret J. Lavin, sister-in-law Joan Ferri, and brothers-in-law Edward Ferri and his wife Eleanor, and Peter Ferri and his wife Jean.  Kathryn was predeceased by her brother Edward J. Lavin Jr., her sister Elizabeth “Betty” Stone and brother-in-law Richard Ferri.

At the family’s request, there will be no calling hours.

Family and friend are invited to attend a funeral Mass which will be celebrated at St. Stephen’s Church, 221 Concord Street in Framingham on Wednesday, November 22,  at 10 a.m.

Burial will follow at St. Stephen’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy in Kay’s memory may be made to St. Stephen’s Parish.
