Rena Marie (Rodak) Cronin, 85

Rena Marie (Rodak) Cronin, 85, of Plymouth, formerly of Framingham, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2017 surrounded by her family.

She was the daughter of the late William and Ellen (Butler) Rodak, and the beloved wife of 58 years of the late George F. Cronin, Sr.

Born in Boston, she moved to Framingham at an early age, where she lived most of her life.

Her family lived in Southborough during her senior year after opening a diner in town, and she graduated with honors from Peters High School in 1950.

After school, her adventurous spirit led her to a brief career as a stewardess with United Airlines.  She returned to Southborough several years later, where she was reunited with her former high school sweetheart from Framingham, George Cronin, and they were married in 1955.  While she held many part-time jobs in her adult life, her primary work was as a homemaker and mother to her six children.  She had a lifelong penchant for art, and was an accomplished amateur sketcher and painter even in her later years.  One of her greatest joys was her love of the beach, and she fulfilled her longtime dream of living near the ocean, spending her final years in Plymouth.

She is survived by her children, Steven Cronin and his wife Joanne of Plymouth, Michael Cronin and his wife Shari of Somersworth, New Hampshire, Kim (Cronin) Chen of Califon, New Jersey, George Cronin, Jr. and his wife Andrea of Framingham, Christopher Cronin and his wife Jacqueline of Roslindale, Lisa Cronin and her partner Beth Bernier of Franklin, and her sister Caryl Jaggers of Corona Del Mar, California.  She was also the proud grandmother of Joe, Kate, Jacki, Mickey, Sarah, Catherine, Laura, Matt, Nick and Mark. She was predeceased by her brothers Paul, William, and Robert, as well as her sisters Beatrice Karpinski, Claire Cervenka, and Dorothy Talon.  She was also beloved by many nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will honor and remember her life by gathering for visitation in the McCarthy, McKinney & Lawler Funeral Homeon Lincoln Street in Framingham on Saturday, Nov. 11 from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. George’s Church in Framingham at 10 a.m.

Interment will follow in St. Stephen Cemetery, Framingham.

Donations may be made in Rena’s name to the COPD Foundation, www.copdfoundation.org.
