FRAMINGHAM – The Dean College men’s soccer team remains undefeated as they edge Framingham State 2-1 in non-conference action Tuesday afternoon in Framingham.
With the win the Bulldogs are now 9-0-2, while the Rams even up at 7-7.
The visitors scored two quick goals in the opening frame to take a 2-0 lead but the Rams were able to cut the deficit to 2-1 shortly after but would never get any closer.
In the 9th minute Alex Gordonbeck scored when he deflected a corner from Pepe Vieira into the net. Just under two minutes later Viera scored on long strike from about 30 yards after a give-and-go play with Santiago Cardona.
The Rams answered in the 17th minute when Ken Stahovish headed in a free kick from Justin Hansen to cut the visitors advantage to 2-1.
The Rams had a few chances to tie the game in regulation but couldn’t seem to find the frame. Their best chance came with just under five minutes to play when a Rams player attempted to chip a shot over the crashing goalkeeper but the shot slid just over the crossbar.
Nathan Silveria made 6 stops in net for Dean. Corey Davidge turned away 4 shots before giving way to senior Josh Arno, who also stopped 4 shots in the second frame.
The Bulldogs outshot the Rams 20-to-14 while taking 4 corners to the Rams 2.
The Rams return to action on Friday, October 13, when they travel to Mass Maritime for Conference action.
