Framingham State Defeats Rhode Island College 2-1

FRAMINGHAM –  Framingham State senior Kaelen Larocque scored two first half goals to lead the Rams through Rhode Island College in non-conference action Wednesday afternoon at Maple Street Field.

With the win the Rams improve to 2-4 while the Anchorwomen also move to 2-4 on the season.

The Rams opened the scoring in the 30th minute when Larocque sent a long strike into the net after intercepting an attempted clear from the goalkeeper.

RIC answered just over ten minutes later when Stephanie Ricci gathered a 50-50 ball and dribbled past a Rams defender and beat the keeper to knot the score at one all.

The hosts answered just over two minutes after the RIC score when Larocque gathered a one-time pass from Caitlyn Our and sent it home.

The visitors had a chance to tie in the 88th minute when Brittany DeGrooth had a shot deflect off the crashing goalie and spin just wide of the right post.

Kirsten Hansen, a Framingham High product, made three saves in net for the Rams.

Erica Edwards made ten stops in goal for the Anchorwomen.

The Rams outshot the visitors 25-to-8 on the day. Both teams attempted 5 corners.

The Rams return to action on Saturday, September 23 when they host Bridgewater State at 11 a.m.
